PROJECT OVERVIEW

L&K delivered the external lighting installation at The Green Quarter in Southall, working on behalf of Kings Landscapes.

The Green Quarter is a major redevelopment by Berkeley of a former brownfield gas-works site, creating a new residential neighbourhood within landscaped gardens and parkland.

L&K was responsible for the supply and installation of the outdoor lighting package across the public realm.

THE CHALLENGE

The external lighting installation formed an integral part of the landscape design and incorporated a wide range of bespoke lighting equipment and control infrastructure.

The electrical works needed to be carefully coordinated with the wider landscaping and construction programme while maintaining a high-quality finished appearance throughout the public realm.

THE WORKS

L&K supplied and installed the external lighting package throughout the landscaped public realm.

The installation included bespoke columns and bollards together with LED strip lighting integrated beneath benches and steps, gobo projectors and tree uplighters.

The lighting equipment was supplied from two custom-made in-ground Kent Stainless feeder pillars, each weighing over 500kg and housing the Mode lighting control equipment.

The feeder pillars were designed specifically for the project and were the first of their kind in the UK.

PROJECT OUTCOME

The completed installation delivered a coordinated external lighting scheme across The Green Quarter’s landscaped public realm, integrating architectural lighting, bespoke equipment and lighting controls within the wider development.
