PROJECT OVERVIEW
L&K was contracted by the City of London Corporation to upgrade the lighting at Tower Place East & West.
The project involved converting 52 existing staircase lights and a further 41 lights within the glass-covered atrium to LED.

THE CHALLENGE
The lighting was installed across a combination of high-level atrium areas and difficult-to-access glass-sided staircases.
The works therefore required different access solutions while maintaining a high-quality finished appearance within the architectural environment.
THE WORKS
The high-level atrium lighting was converted using electric scissor lifts.
The staircase lighting presented more challenging access conditions, requiring 17 separate scaffold installations to reach the fittings safely.
Once complete, the LED conversion restored the lighting to the staircases and atrium while improving the efficiency of the installation.
PROJECT OUTCOME
The completed works converted 93 existing fittings across the staircases and atrium to LED, restoring the lighting within the architectural spaces while reducing the ongoing energy and maintenance requirements of the installation.
