PROJECT OVERVIEW
L&K completed an electrical upgrade to the Blackfriars Plant Room for the City of London Corporation.
The plant room supplies electricity to nearby equipment serving underground heating and street-lighting infrastructure.
The works included the installation of new three-phase electrical control equipment together with new plant-room lighting and power.

THE CHALLENGE
The new electrical control equipment had to be installed and commissioned before the existing electrical panel could be removed.
This required the upgrade to be carefully sequenced while working within an established plant-room environment containing ageing electrical infrastructure.
THE WORKS
L&K installed the new three-phase electrical control equipment along with upgraded lighting and power within the plant room.
Once the new installation was in place, the original electrical panel, dating from the 1950s, could be safely removed.
PROJECT OUTCOME
The upgrade replaced ageing electrical control infrastructure with new three-phase equipment while also improving the plant room’s lighting and power installation.
The works allowed the original 1950s electrical panel to be removed following completion of the new installation.
