PROJECT OVERVIEW
L&K completed a comprehensive lighting and electrical upgrade at Hampton Wick school for the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
The works covered classrooms, nursery accommodation, an after-school club, toilets and circulation areas, with L&K also responsible for the lighting design.

THE CHALLENGE
The project involved upgrading a range of lighting types across multiple teaching and communal spaces while integrating new emergency lighting, controls and additional fire-alarm coverage.
The installation required a coordinated approach across the different areas of the school.
THE WORKS
A total of 82 light fittings across 11 different types were replaced throughout four classrooms, the nursery, after-school club, four toilets and a corridor.
New emergency lighting was installed in every room and all existing switches were replaced.
The fire-alarm system was extended with 10 additional points serving classrooms, staff areas and the corridor.
Corridor lighting was also upgraded to sensor control, removing the need for manual switching.
L&K carried out the lighting design for the project.
PROJECT OUTCOME
The completed works provided upgraded lighting, emergency lighting, controls and additional fire-alarm coverage across the school, with the new lighting installation designed by L&K to suit the different teaching and communal spaces.
